SBDA provide exceptional opportunities for gifted and talented young people in Urban Dance, Contemporary Dance and Musical Theatre. We provide workshops with prestigious artist and professional companies and the opportunity to perform both nationally and internationally.

We also provide progression routes into professional practice through Apprenticeships.

We also provide progression routes into professional practice through Apprenticeships, our Teacher Training Programme and performance work through our sister company KO Productions.
Many of our SBDA teachers have come through this route.

Street Beat Elite (SBE) are our gifted and talented urban dancers. The group has been established for over 15 years with over 65% of previous members moving into professional dance work or training.

The group have performed at many prestigious events both nationally and internationally including in Germany and Los Angeles. They came 3rd in the World Street Dance Championships and have appeared on TV in addition to winning Fresh and representing the North of England at U-Dance twice. They have been awarded Youth Arts Heritage Achiever of the Year Award and are currently funded by Arts Council.

Our Advanced SBE Troupe members are aged between 13-18yrs. They train twice per week and attend regular workshops with renown artists from all over the world. Members are selected annually trough an audition process.

Our SBE Troupe Juniors are our younger members aged between 7-12yrs. They train once a week and have the opportunity to perform at more local events.

Combining Acting, Singing and Dance, our Musical Theatre Company provides the opportunity for those gifted artists to work in a professional environment. The group consists of young children to adults and have performed many prestigious shows over the past 10 years including Shrek, Into The Woods, Oliver and Hairspray.

We provide a unique experience where performers work with professional set, costumes and special effects, often with a live band. The group perform one Musical Theatre show and one Pantomime per year. Cast auditions are open twice per year.
